Oculus Go Standalone Virtual Reality Headset: Full Review
The Oculus Go Virtual Standalone Reality Headset has earned 4.1 out of 5 stars on Amazon for being a great VR headset. It features amazing, clear optics and state-of-the-art 3D graphics that guarantee an amazing VR experience.
Perhaps the best thing about the Oculus Go is that it’s super portable and easy to use. It’s ready when you are and you won’t need a phone, PC, wires, or any other annoying and inconvenient accessory.
Another great thing about this VR headset is that it provides effortless control, no matter what you’re doing, and the built-in audio system provides surround sound so you can be completely immersed in your virtual reality experience. This makes the whole thing intense and dramatic, which is what you want from your VR headset.
All in all, the Oculus Go provides a unique alternative to watch things in VR and it will feel like your own personal theater. All you need to do is put it on, anywhere, anytime, switch it on and enjoy what this incredible device has to offer. You can play over 1,000 games, immerse yourself in TV, social apps, and so much more.
One of the reasons the Oculus Go is so unique is because of the increase in resolution, which allows a higher level of detail, less Screen-Door Effect (SDE), a super smooth experience and less motion sickness.
This headset is beyond convenient and it all starts with the set up. All users need to do is go to the Play Store or the Apple Store and download the Oculus app. Once that’s done, you’ll need to open the app and create an account. The username can be changed every 6 months. Verify your email, and then set up your headset as you see fit.
You’ll be able to access apps via de Oculus app or via web, and there are a ton of media apps available for you to enjoy, including but not limited to Netflix, HBO, Facebook, Showtime, and a whole lot more.
The Oculus Go is wonderful because picture quality is amazing; better, in fact, than many of its competitors, making this a great multimedia portable device you can use whenever, wherever you are. For a standalone device, the experience is actually impressive and you will thoroughly enjoy your content using this VR headset.
However, there are a few drawbacks to consider. For one, there’s no Micro SD slot and no support for Micro USB at the moment, but it will be added in the future. Also, the battery life is limited, lasting 2 to 2 and a half hours, which can be annoying when watching films because you can’t charge the device while you’re using it.
Even so, these are things you can work around and because the device is so incredible for what it is. It’s convenient, portable, practical and the experience is smooth, which is basically everything you want from a VR headset you’ll be using on the daily.
